1974 Triumph TR6
Our client's vision was clear: they wanted to keep the Triumph TR6 looking as classic as possible while embracing the future of transportation. Their passion for vintage cars, combined with a desire for sustainability, made electrification the perfect solution. Together, we set out to maintain the car's timeless exterior while giving it a modern electric heart.
At Current, we believe in preserving the essence of every vehicle we work on. For the Triumph TR6, that meant carefully designing every component to seamlessly integrate with the original build while keeping the thrill of driving a stick shift by hooking the electric motor up to the manual transmission.
ELECTRIC CONVERSION
The vehicle's power system comprises a total of 45 kWh of battery, providing an impressive 200-mile range on a single charge.
The batteries are assembled using 26 NCM Modules, securely attached to water cooling plates to maintain optimal operating temperatures. Ensuring utmost safety and performance, the battery pack is integrated with the advanced Orion2 Battery Management System (BMS).
At the core of the drivetrain, we utilized a Cascadia Motion SS-250 motor paired with a CM200 inverter, delivering up to 250 kW of peak power and 500 Nm of torque. This setup ensures the TR6 delivers exhilarating performance while remaining whisper-quiet and efficient.
To retain the driving experience our client loved, we kept the original 4-speed manual transmission, seamlessly integrating it with the electric motor. This approach preserves the joy of shifting gears while providing the smooth and instant power delivery characteristic of an EV.
Custom Gauges
At the heart of the upgrades are state-of-the-art gauges, providing a sleek interface that complements the vehicle's timeless design.
The original speedometer was meticulously restored and retained to preserve the classic aesthetic, while the tachometer was replaced with a current meter that dynamically displays current draw during acceleration and regeneration during braking.
All other gauges were replaced with era-matching instruments designed specifically to reflect the EV powertrain, including battery charge level, motor temperature, and battery temperature. These thoughtful upgrades ensure that the gauges not only blend seamlessly with the car's vintage style but also provide the driver with all the essential information for their electrified driving experience.
Interior
Inside, the TR6's cabin was thoughtfully upgraded to enhance its original charm. The interior was reupholstered in a refreshed color scheme, staying true to the classic design while adding a touch of modern sophistication.
Custom mats were added to complement the updated interior, providing a subtle yet stylish accent. These updates preserve the timeless look and feel of the original cabin while giving it a fresh, personalized touch.
Customizations
While we didn't stray far from the TR6's original design, we added a series of thoughtful details to elevate it beyond a standard conversion. From carefully hidden EV components to bespoke finishing touches, every element was designed to maintain the car's timeless appeal while subtly showcasing its transformation into a modern electric vehicle.
